Okay – this one isn’t even a joke or sarcasm. This is outright scary. Why does this public bathroom have a lock on the outside of the door? It seems pretty standard and reasonable for a single seater bathroom to have an INSIDE-THE DOOR lock to safeguard your privacy and prevent someone else from walking in on you. But what purpose (other than something completely nefarious) does putting a lock like this on the outside of the door serve? You aren’t prohibiting access to the restroom as anyone can lock or unlock it from this side without needing a key. But you are putting anyone using the restroom at risk of being falsely imprisoned.
I’m not going to name the place where I took this photo – but just be aware of your surroundings if you ever see something like this. I didn’t check to see if the Women’s room had the same “security features” in place. If it does – I would never allow my wife or daughters use this public restroom without someone else standing guard at the door.
What legitimate reason would this lock serve? Seriously! I’m asking!!!
