I couldn’t tell if he was posing or not, but it felt like he was staring right at me. My wife and I were having dinner at one of our favorite downtown Sandusky waterfront eateries when this fellow popped out of the lake rocks. Maybe looking for a handout, but not nearly as bold as the seagulls typically are. Not long after we saw him running up and down a nearby hillside with a partner. So maybe they were just playing hide-and-seek and the “look” above was his way of asking me to not rat him out.
Later we also saw another species sunning himself on the rocks.
