I and a few other Sandusky Catholic men assisted in moving and hanging a few different Sacred Art pieces at Sts. Peter & Paul parish on Monday morning. We have dozens of art pieces on display in the three Catholic parishes in town and they are periodically rotated and moved among the three parishes to give everyone the opportunity to see something new.
The U.S. Flag was already in place prior to hanging this artwork, but it wasn’t until we were finished that I noticed St. Peter fully facing the flag with his hand placed over his heart – giving the impression of a sign of respect and reverence. The local Knights of Columbus start each of their meetings with both a Prayer and a Pledge of Allegiance. The Sandusky Central Catholic School begins each athletic event with a Prayer and playing/singing the Star-Spangled Banner. Is St. Peter a prayerful patriot himself as well?
